LoRa Alliance’s® 2022 Annual Report Confirms Significant Expansion of LoRaWAN’s® LPWAN Market Leadership

The LoRa Alliance, a non-profit association dedicated to promoting the adoption of the LoRaWAN® standard for low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), has released its 2022 annual report, which confirms the significant expansion of LoRaWAN's market leadership.
According to the report, the LoRaWAN ecosystem has grown rapidly over the past year, with more than 150 LoRaWAN network operators and over 200,000 gateways deployed worldwide. This growth has been driven by the increasing demand for IoT solutions that require long-range, low-power connectivity, such as smart cities, industrial automation, and asset tracking.
The report also highlights the continued development of the LoRaWAN standard, with the release of LoRaWAN 1.1 in 2017 and the upcoming release of LoRaWAN 1.2, which will bring new features and capabilities to the standard. These updates will further enhance the performance, security, and scalability of LoRaWAN networks, making them even more attractive to businesses and organizations looking to deploy IoT solutions.
In addition to the growth of the LoRaWAN ecosystem, the report also highlights the increasing adoption of LoRaWAN by major players in the IoT industry. This includes partnerships with companies such as Amazon Web Services, IBM, and Cisco, as well as the integration of LoRaWAN into major IoT platforms such as Microsoft Azure IoT and Google Cloud IoT.
The LoRa Alliance's 2022 annual report confirms that LoRaWAN is now firmly established as the leading LPWAN technology, with a growing ecosystem of network operators, gateways, and devices, as well as strong partnerships with major players in the IoT industry. As the demand for IoT solutions continues to grow, it is clear that LoRaWAN will play a key role in enabling the next generation of connected devices and applications.
