Tucker Carlson on Moderna stock: ‘wow, is that a scam’

Tucker Carlson, the popular Fox News host, recently made headlines for his scathing comments on Moderna stock. In a segment on his show, Carlson called the biotech company's stock a scam and questioned the legitimacy of its COVID-19 vaccine.
Moderna, which has been at the forefront of the race to develop a vaccine for the coronavirus, has seen its stock soar in recent months. The company's shares have risen more than 400% since the start of the year, making it one of the best-performing stocks on Wall Street.
But Carlson isn't impressed. Wow, is that a scam, he said on his show. I mean, I don't know if it's a scam, but it sure looks like one.
Carlson went on to question the safety and efficacy of Moderna's vaccine, which is currently in phase 3 clinical trials. He pointed to the fact that the vaccine has not yet been approved by the FDA and that there are still many unknowns about its long-term effects.
Are we really supposed to believe that this vaccine is going to be safe and effective? Carlson asked. I mean, we don't even know what the long-term effects are going to be. And yet people are pouring money into this stock like it's the next big thing.
While Carlson's comments may seem extreme, they reflect a growing skepticism among some investors and analysts about the valuations of biotech companies like Moderna. Many experts have warned that the rush to develop a COVID-19 vaccine has led to inflated stock prices and unrealistic expectations.
Despite the criticism, Moderna remains confident in its vaccine and its stock price. The company recently announced that it has enrolled more than 25,000 participants in its phase 3 trial and expects to have results by the end of the year.
Only time will tell whether Moderna's vaccine is a success or a failure. But for now, Carlson's comments serve as a reminder that investors should always approach the stock market with caution and skepticism, especially when it comes to high-flying biotech companies.
